5.0 out of 5 stars VERY unexpected., July 21, 2013

This review is from: The Complex: The Reanimates Book I (Kindle Edition)

I’m not a reader of zombie books but I was encouraged to give this one a try, and I must say, I couldn’t put it down! I really want to know what happens to this lot, where’s the next one?!
The story felt quite believable, not quite in the zombie sense, cos pray-god it never happens, but in the transmittable disease-having to survive-way of doing it sense.
The characters each felt believable as well which I think is very important in a story such as this.
I love most that the story is told entirely in first person. Must have been a nightmare to write. Fantastic.
Well done Ms Rudolph!.

Zombies . . .

Told in first person, this wonderful gem has the feel of real life experience. Kept me totally involved. I even shed a tear or two. Oh yeah, I loved it all the way through.

Imagine stumbling across the personal journal of a woman giving an account of her family’s fight to survive an apocalyptic event. That’s how I read this very human story of a global zombie outbreak.

Despite any editing flaws, and maybe, in large part, because of them (frankly, that’s a huge statement coming from me), the storytelling is rich in texture and has a sense of urgency in all the right places. I wouldn’t have wanted it presented any other way. It is near perfection exactly as it is.

This was my first zombie novel, so impossible for me to make comparisons to others in the genre. Could I even relate to a zombie tale? This one has such good reviews (and I see why), that I gave it a go. It didn’t take long to realize what this story was really about: humanity, devotion, commitment, courage, and sacrifice — and being clever, resourceful, and smart. Oh, and zombies. It’s about foul, stinky, ravenous zombies.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fantastic Zombie Read, 1 April 2013

‘The Complex’ is an absolutely fantastic tale of how it would be to survive a zombie apocalypse. i love all things zombies so this book really appealed to me. I was also a nurse and as the main character of the story, Cali, is a nurse I found myself drawn to her and the responsibilities that she faced. I read this book in a relatively short time as I found it very difficult to put down. I am very much looking forward to the sequel, this was a five star read.
